dvb-usb

G.Bitzer
Hi,

I'm trying to connect a USB based DVB-S Receiver to an Alix 2 board with
the recent basic Voyage 0.10. But no luck. The Receiver is detected, but
no firmware gets loaded and no kernel modules. I have tried as it's
working with Debian, firmware files are in place in /lib/firmware.

dmesg in Voyage shows:

[ 6945.367091] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci

[10457.598503] dvb-usb: TeVii S660 USB successfully initialized and

I also cannot see any dvb related kernelmodules in Voyage, dvb-usb for
instance, also not in /lib/modules.

Is the Voyage kernel built without dvb-usb support ? Do I have to build
an own custom kernel ?

Thanks in advance

dvb-usb may not be built in voygae custom kernel.

You may use stock jessie kernel to see if this is supported.

Punky

Hi Punky,

hmm, but with the stock jessie kernel the hardware rngd, the led's, the
watchdog and the crypto unit of the Alix board are not supported. Or am
I wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Re: dvb-usb

PipoCanaja
Hi,

This is correct, you need to compile your own kernel if you want all
unfortunately.
It would be great to get a voyage custom kernel with DVB support.

Bye
PipoCanaja

Hi list and Punky,

meanwhile I have installed the plain jessie kernel, and my dvb-usb
receiver is detected successfully:

and the Geode Companion chip

Just for the records. Even now when the dvb-usb device is properly
detected, I have not been able to get it to work. But that is another
stoy, not Voyage related

keep up the good work.

Kind regards
